Exam Preparation: 10 Study Tips for JC Math
1. Give yourself enough time to study
Don't leave it to the last minute - cramming everything at one go is not a good way to approach your JC Math Paper. Instead, plan a timetable to take a more balanced approach between studying and free time before your exam.
2. Organise your space
Make sure you have enough space to lay out all your textbooks and materials. Get rid of anything that may make you lose focus. Most minds thrive in a clean and organised environment - but find out what works for you.
3. Use flowcharts and diagrams
Visual aids can be very helpful when revising. Use a single page per topic and condense all your information briefly so that you can recall it easily during any JC Math paper. Challenge yourself to write as much information without referring to your notes!
4. Practice old exam papers
One of the most effective ways to revise is to practice with the help of past year JC Math papers. This helps you familiarise yourself with the format of the papers as well as allocate appropriate time to each section.
5. Explain your answers to others
Make use of your parents, siblings and friends and explain the logic behind the question or topic. This helps you get it clearer in your head and identify any areas you need to brush up on.
6. Organise study groups with friends
This way you can help each other in topics where you might be unfamiliar but they may know and vice versa. But make sure to set a specific time and not to stray off the topic when you are together!
7. Take regular breaks
Studying too much for too long can actually become counterproductive. Develop a study routine based on the time of day you study best at and take breaks at the times where you don't. Vitamin D is good for a healthy brain!
8. Snack on brain food
Keep away from junk food! What you eat can have an impact on energy levels and focus so look for nutritious snacks like fruits and yogurt which have been proven to aid concentration and memory. Same goes for exam day - do not skip your meals before a JC Math paper.
9. Plan your exam day
Prepare what you need early - ruler, pencils, erasers, etc. Do not leave it to the last minute or you may forget and panic when you enter the exam hall. Check the route and journey so that you know how long it takes to get there so you won't be late. Make arrangements with your classmates too so you are all likely to be punctual.
10. Drink lots of water
Drinking plenty of water is essential for your brain to keep hydrated and functioning at it's best. Make sure to do so during your revision and exam days.
Good luck for your exams!!
